As we begin our gathering, the worship choir will lead us in a song called "Bless the Lord (All That is Within Me)." This song will set our minds on the Lord as the One worthy to be praised for all He has done for us. In all seasons of life, be them times of great joy or great suffering, our God remains the same. We trust His faithfulness and respond by praising Him.
Having praised God for His faithfulness, we will continue to reflect on this truth of the gospel: our hope is not founded on anything less than Christ and His work on the cross. Our ability to stand in the storm and still say "bless the Lord" is not because we are strong, but because our God is strong and we stand on the Solid Rock of Jesus.
This Sunday, we will continue to learn a new song called "Death Was Arrested." This song centers around the completed work of Christ, on the cross, as a payment for our sin. As you prepare to sing this song, take time to reflect on the depth of your sin, and the greatness of Christ's sacrifice on your behalf.
Having spent time reflecting on our sin and the price Christ paid for us, we will celebrate that our pardon is assured. This mystery of grace (that Jesus would take our sin and give us His righteousness) brings great joy and peace to those of us who have trusted in Him.
We will respond to God's Word by singing "There Is a Fountain Filled With Blood." As we sing this song, let us pray that God would continue to show us that it is not the sacrifice of our hands that saves, but the sacrifice of our Savior.
