One of the primary — and most vivid — descriptions of Jesus coming into the world is that of light into darkness. The stark contrast of light and dark emphasizes how radically different (and other) Jesus is than His creation. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus this Christmas season, we will proclaim that He alone is the true light, which gives light to everyone.

Join us this weekend for a special time of worship with the Hunter Street family.

Christmas Worship Gatherings

Christmas Eve, 8:00pm
Christmas Day, 10:00am
Worship Center

These two worship gatherings are identical — you choose which one to attend. The service will include carols, scripture, and the Lord's Supper.

Genesis 1:1-3
   In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
    And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

Isaiah 9:2, 6
      The people who walked in darkness
          have seen a great light;
     those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
          on them has light shone.
     For to us a child is born,
          to us a son is given;
     and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
          and his name shall be called
     Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
          Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

John 1:1-5, 9
    In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it...
    The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

John 8:12
Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

2 Corinthians 4:5-6
   For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 2:9
     You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Revelation 22:4-5
    They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.
